Polara Ultimate Straight: gloss options

Eight test renders of the ball's finish, from what the film uses now (A) to glass (H). Each is shown at three held poses: the opening, the pole stop and the tee finale. Tap any image for full size.

A to E change the clear coat only. F to H add light boxes that show up only as reflections in the coat, the way a room's windows show up on a real ball. These are stopped poses; in the film the highlights slide across the dimples as the ball turns, which reads glossier still.

Side by side at the tee

C, the most gloss from the coat alone, against the three light-box options.

Settings

Coat and coat roughness are the clear coat's strength and sharpness (lower roughness means crisper reflections). Base is the white cover under it. Shine at rest is how much of the moving-light sheen stays when the ball stops.
